Visit to Six Flags, NJ
I went to Six Flags Great Adventures in New Jersey last Saturday with some friends, and it was an amazing day.
It started with 5 of us getting up early in the morning, met in a parking lot at a local mall, and went on our way at 8AM. It wasn’t fun cramming 5 adults into one sedan, but it wasn’t that long of a drive. We chatted about the most random stuff on the way there, just like any group of friends would on road trips, from "a fight between Gandalf and Harry Potter" to "Invisible Hand of Economics". It took a little over 3 hours to get to Six Flags in NJ.
We started with the ride called "Kingdom Ka". According to the site, it broke/holds world record of height (456 feet) and speed (128 MPH). It was early, the line was short, and it was a great ride to start the day. We also rode Superman, and it’s the first roller coaster I’ve ridden which they hang you facing down, emulating the way Superman flies.
We had an awesome day, one roller coaster after another, sneaking a late lunch and a dolphin show, somewhat like the ones at Sea World. We rode Kingdom Ka, Superman, Nitro, El Toro, Medusa, Scream Machine, and Batman.
We left NJ around 10PM, and decided to make a 30 minute detour on our way back to stop in Philadelphia for "the best Philly Steak in the world". I was just as psyched about the best cheese steak there is as I was about the amusement park. We got there around 11:30, and we went to Cheese Steak Corner, where two competing cheese steak shops, Pat's and Genos, both claimed to be the best. They both were open 24/7, and we got some from both places for comparison.
Full and drowsy, I took a nap on the way back, slept most of the way. I felt somewhat bad for the driver, Soy, who can’t sleep on the way back, but Ryan in the passenger seat stayed awake and talked to him, so it was cool.
We got back to the meeting spot around 2:15 AM. I’m thankful to have awesome friends to share a wonderful day’s great experiences with.
